Course Description

When presenting evidence and our recommendations to the Court through testimony, we have to be prepared to effectively communicate our information to the Court.

Key points of discussion:

  • Importance of preparing the witnesses and knowing the file and the issues before the Court;
  • Independently gathering facts to help you strengthen and inform your recommendations;
  • How to make an outline or notes to help refresh your memory;
  • The difference between evidentiary and non-evidentiary hearings; and
  • The basic do’s and don’ts such as how to dress and present yourself  in court; and
  • How to handle objections when made by other parties.

This 1-hour webinar is presented by the Guardian ad Litem Program's Director of Legal Advocacy, Kelly Swartz, Esq. , and Chris Andriacchi, Special Counsel for Advocacy and Litigation for the Guardian ad Litem Program.

The webinar is highly recommended for all staff but it is mandatory for all Child Advocate Managers, Child Advocate Manager IIs, Best Interest Attorneys,  Assistant Directors, Circuit Directors and Senior Attorneys. Volunteers are also welcome and encouraged to attend.
