Conducting Impactful Video Visits
February 2021
Guest Speakers:
Dr. Page Thanasiu, PhD, LMHC, RPT-S, Stetson University
Dr. S. Meghan Walter, PhD, NCC, CFLE, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
As a Guardian ad Litem, we’ve all been challenged in the past year on how to have a successful video visit with our children. Screen time doesn’t replace in person visits, but Dr. Page Thanasiu and Dr. Meghan Walter will join us to share ideas regarding how to make our virtual time with our children as impactful as possible. We asked volunteers what their biggest challenges have been since moving visits online, and the goal of this workshop will be to answer and provide solutions to the most common concerns. The presenters will also address techniques to maximize communication with children including ways to help them feel comfortable during virtual visits and some fun and entertaining activities to keep them engaged.
Please update your training hours in Optima after watching the webinar. For those with the Guardian ad Litem Program, please use the Training Topic: "Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities" and specify in the notes section: "Conducting Impactful Video Visits
