Course Description

"ACCESS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM"

Speaker:  Lauren Eversole

This workshop will discuss how federal and state laws prohibit public and private educational and community programs (extracurricular activities, after school programs, summer camps, etc.) from excluding children based on their disability. It will discuss the legal obligations that various programs must follow to ensure equal access for children with disabilities. Participants will acquire skills to promote advocacy for children’s rights to participate in and enjoy the social benefits of activities beyond the classroom.
