Course Description

Please join us for a training about ensuring that we are advocating for permanency for our children from the very beginning of our cases.  This webinar will delve into the importance of permanency and give you best practices for working concurrently on reunification and adoption or permanent guardianship.


For those with the Guardian ad Litem Program, this 3-hour course does count towards recertification.  When inputting into Optima, please select training topic, "Permanency and Child Safety".

Rick Dragotto, Esq.

Rick graduated from the University of South Florida in 1997 and Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2001, and began his legal career representing victims of domestic violence in injunctions, dissolutions of marriage, and paternity cases.  Rick began his work as an attorney for the Guardian ad Litem Program in 2006. Rick was named the Managing Attorney for 13th Circuit’s legal team in April 2020.  Rick is a father of five. He loves to travel with his family and spend lots of time at Disney World.Suzanne ParkerDirector of Child Advocacy and Permanency, Florida Guardian ad Litem ProgramSuzanne has worked in child welfare for twenty five years and with the GAL Program for the last twenty two. She has worked in several different capacities at the Program and had the privilege of advocating for many children. Prior to working for the GAL Program, Suzanne worked for the Department of Children of Families as a Protective Services Counselor and an Economic Services Specialist. Suzanne is a wife and mother of two boys and enjoys the beach and camping with her family.
