Course Description
This webinar will cover new legislation regarding case plans for incarcerated parents and what it means for the Guardian ad Litem Program. The goals of this one-hour training are to:
1.Identify and address the new law regarding incarcerated parents and the role of the GAL.
2.Introduce and explain GAL Protocol for cases with incarcerated parents.
3.Encourage a shift in thinking regarding incarcerated parents from “Can we TPR the incarcerated parent” to “What can we do to help the incarcerated parent successfully complete his/her case plan”.
**Additional separate training regarding case planning for incarcerated parents is also available through the Center for Child Welfare. To access, please go to: http://centervideo.forest.usf.edu/video/center/incarceratedparents/start.html .

Read MoreWhile the content was helpful, the presentation manner was not. As a good amount of the presentation was spent reviewing websites, using a PowerPoint presentation that did not show the content of the website as the trainer was discussing them was not useful. This resulted in staring at a blank slide for over ten minutes. At the very least, as slide which showed the links should have been inserted allowing those watching the PowerPoint could access those sites using a split screen and actually viewed what was being discussed.
