Attendees will learn about the various services, supports, and benefits offered to youth and young adults who are aging out of the foster care system, or who have previously aged out.  The training offers a detailed look at eligibility, benefits, and access information for several state and federally funded supports, accessing the tuition waiver for foster youth, and extended foster care eligibility.

Cal Walton, III - Deputy Director of the Office of Continuing Care

Mr. Cal Walton, III serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Continuing Care, DCF’s Florida Youth Leadership Academy (FYLA) Coordinator, and one of the ETV Coordinators for Florida.  Cal has over 13 years of experience in child welfare. Mr. Walton graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) with a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a Minor in English Literature. He then received his Juris Doctor from FAMU College of Law. In his current role, Cal develops and implements state policies and procedures that impact over 7,000 youth and young adults from foster care. He participates in joint planning and development of annual federal plans and oversees and negotiates contracted service deliverables and performance measures for youth and young adult programs including Extended Foster Care, Postsecondary Education Services and Support, Aftercare Services, Keys to Independence, Positive Pathways Program, and Department of Military Affairs. Cal also oversees the duties and responsibilities of the Statewide youth and young adult transition services specialist, youth advisor, and the HOPE Navigator and Youth Development Manager.
