Course Description

This program was designed to give a raw and upfront look into the dangers of the internet. 

The audience will go through a tour of the darker side of the internet and discuss several topics pertaining to cyber safety. Some of this information may be disturbing as Lt. Talamantez be will using real examples of online predator cases involving children in the discussion. 


For those with the Guardian ad Litem Program, this 1.5 hour course does apply towards in-service hours. Please select training topic "Staff Development" and specify "Internet Safety" when inputting into Optima.


LT. J.R. Talamantez

Lt. Talamantez is a 16 year veteran of the Panama City Beach Police Department. He began his career in 2004 after he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. Lt. Talamantez is considered a career investigator having spent 15 of his 16 years in the investigative field. He has specialized in several areas including Undercover Narcotic Investigations, Organized Crime, Domestic Security, Criminal Intelligence and Cyber Crimes. Currently, Lt. Talamantez is a full time Task Force Officer with Homeland Security Investigations and focuses his time investigating Internet Crimes Against Children. He is also an active member of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task force.In 2015, Lt. Talamantez was named the State of Florida Law Enforcement Official of the year by Governor Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi for his efforts in battling human trafficking.Lt. Talamantez is the creator of the Parents Against Predators Program which focuses on educating the public about the dangers of the internet. The P.A.P. program has been extremely successful in the tri-state area of Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Recently, Lt. Talamantez was invited to speak at the Center for Disease control in Atlanta, Georgia.Lt. Talamantez is a proud graduate of the 277th session of the FBI National Academy, While at the N.A., Lt. Talamantez received special honors from the Director of the FBI for his work in several major international criminal investigations.

Child abuse predators. Internet crimes involving children. From 2007 and on children fed technology from the cradle on. Parents must be Vikings to. This podcast is an awareness that initiative by the Panama City Police Department. There are a number of apps targeting kids. YUBO and whisper for example. There are different types of predators. The Gatherer, the producer, the talker, the traveler. All groom the children to trust them and all examine the children’s digital footprints. Parents and others must know how to monitor children’s internet activity and encourage their children to speak with them about anything and everything.
