Educational Advocates also called Surrogate Parents, in the educational system are thoroughly discussed in this course. Catherine Kanagy from The Monroe County Public Schools Exceptional Education Program, walks the participant through the process of becoming an Educational Advocate /Surrogate Parent A few of the topics covered are Qualifications, Training, Responsibility and Liability of the Educational Surrogate/Parent.
In addition, the difference between an IEP (Individual Education Plan) and a 504 Plan are discussed.
