Course Description
LGBTQ+ Training: In this workshop, participants will begin to understand how to support and affirm a young person in the process of “coming out.” The presentation will focus on common issues around coming out and how they might affect young people in out-of-home care. Participants will also gain an understanding that coming out is not about sexual behavior, but about the recognition and disclosure of one’s self-identity. The impact of coming out on overall well-being (including psychological, emotional, behavioral, and social health) will also be discussed.
