Course Description
Training: LGTBQ+ Schools and the Value of a Gay Straight (GSA) Alliance. This training is the fourth webinar of a nine part series. The series was created to provide specialized training on providing an enhanced level of advocacy for LGBTQ+ youth within the child welfare system.
- This workshop presentation will focus on how the presence of GSAs may help to make schools safer for LGBTQ+ students by sending a message that biased language and harassment will not be tolerated.
- The presentation will show GSAs may also help LGBTQ+ students to identify supportive school staff, which has been shown to have a positive impact on their academic achievement and experiences in school.
- Also highlights the impact of bullying on LGBTQ+ youth; Resources, etc.
