Course Description

Training provided by:

  • Calvin Martin, Director of Program Advocacy and Inclusion

Initially held as a webinar on September 28, 2018, this one-hour training covers the implicit biases everyone has and how we can identify those biases to lessen their influence on our decisions.

The different types of biases are explored as well as an analysis on how they may not be accurate. We are introduced to a three step system that will help us recognize our unconscious biases.

This webinar offers important insight on how to overcome our implicit bias to more effectively assist the children.

NOTE:   Guardian ad Litem staff and volunteers, the OPTIMA training topic for this course is "Cultural Diversity".

Techinically, this was the best webinar I have watched/belatedly attended. There was a lot of good information about implicit bias and what it is and the webinar offers direction for seeking solutions. The IAT was interesting and enlightening.
