Course Description

This course will: 
  • Present background of legal authority for the Agency of Persons with Disabilities program, available services, the Medicaid Waiver Coordinator’s role, the subcontracting of APD services, and the APD workers. 
  • Discuss realistic expectations of the APD worker within a dependency case including possible conflicts of interest, lack of objectivity, limited availability, and high turnover. 
  • Identify potential pitfalls in achieving permanency. Explore practical options for shelter and case planning. 
  • Develop best practices to achieve desirable outcomes for children in this unique population.
