Dolores King is a 2008 graduate of Florida State University with a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science and 2 minors, Early Childhood Development and Urban and Regional Planning. Dolores has always had a passion for teaching others and working with children, as a result her career path led her to work as a VPK teacher and elementary school teacher prior to beginning her career with the Department of Children and Families. In 2011, Dolores began working for the Florida Abuse Hotline as an abuse counselor where she assessed thousands of calls for children and vulnerable adults, after two years she transitioned into a Hotline Trainer where she trained hundreds of abuse counselors and criminal background check analysts. While working for the Hotline, Dolores was also the Florida Abuse Hotline Community Training Liaison for the state of Florida from 2014-19. Dolores has trained abuse and neglect reporting to professionally mandated reporters in our local communities from across the board. In 2018, Dolores graduated the Florida Certified Public Manager Program through Florida State University. She is dedicated to promoting child abuse and neglect awareness and vulnerable adult abuse and neglect awareness. Dolores transitioned into a new role with DCF in 2019 as a research and training specialist with the Training and Talent Development Office providing professional development training to DCF leadership and frontline staff. In 2019, Dolores opened King Professional Development and Consulting LLC. She has over 13 years of combined teaching, training, and facilitation across the state of Florida and over 9 years of Florida child welfare and Florida vulnerable adult experience. The driving force behind the agency is to meet the needs of community providers with the trainings that will develop and sharpen skills needed to keep Florida’s most vulnerable populations safe.
